Well, nothing like normal service eh?
Sheffield United won at home. In fairness, a terrible decision robbed West Ham and 10 Impossibilifans of a point. Never a handball - not really a VAR issue, just another example of a terrible law having the spotlight shone on it through the prism of technology.
The early Saturday game saw more VARtervention to upgrade Aubameyang's yellow to a red. I have no issues with the upgrade - it was a poor tackle, without malice but clearly dangerous - a "striker's challenge" but again, juxtaposed against how other poor tackles have been ignored by VAR, or in the case of another high-profile case, rescinded, the inconsistency grates.
Chelsea won at home against a barely extant Burnley side, whilst Everton continued their resurgence under Carlo's left eyebrow, dismissing the challenge of new boy Potter's Brighton. 3 wins from 4 now under their new boss. Southampton avenged their 9-0 humbling by beating Leicester at home. I mean, 2-1 isn't 9-0, but it's quite the swing. Someone call Jeremy Vine. Leicester now 3rd. Man U thumped a hopeless Norwich now looking quite far adrift at the foot of the table, Wolves and Newcastle drew in the most deja vu game of all time (Historical reckon: P150, D150) whilst Mourinho's master plan was only masterful for about 40% of the game. Ironically, Liverpool probably played their worst football of the season and with better finishing, Spurs could have had something, if not everything, but they left, like one of our Impossibilifolk did on the Weakest Link, with nothing.
Watford also seem to have righted themselves with Pearson winning again, whilst Bournemouth are in trouble - 9 losses in 11 games. Of course, one of their 2 non-defeats was against Arsenal, mais bien sur. To complete the weekend, City thumped Villa in Brum, went second whilst Aguero became the scoringest player in PL history who doesn't know the words to God Save The Queen. Henry relinquishing his 8 year old title. Think about it...
