Folks, if I were a well known bookmaker, I'd be paying out on the man with the reddest nose in all of Cheshire cracking open a bottle of 55yr old Janet Sheed Reserve come May. I'm not entirely sure what's happened over at Middle Eastlands, but it's kinda ruined the last few months, as it's highly unlikely that we'll see a repeat of the the drama of last season. Even the relegation dogfight (a strange noun that, considering the skill and bravery required by the pilots...surely a toddlers' pushing match would be more appropriate) is doing it's best to be a damp squib, with QPR surely resigned to their fate, and Villa & Reading also scrabbling around in the dust. Fortunately, over at Stamford Bridge, they've decided to spice up the contest to see which London club can fail to get into the Champions' League. This weekend sees the North London Derby - a big enough game normally, but for the second time in 2 seasons, a potentially critical game. For their part, Chelsea will be looking to take advantage of the fact that at least one side will be dropping points.

The chasing pack seem to have fallen away a bit recently, so it looks like this, and potential Wigan revival may be all there is left to focus on for the remainder of the season. Any suggestion of City losing second place is, I believe, beyond optimistic and probably bordering on fanciful.
